I was first introduced to Ellen Oh because she very generously volunteered in a charity event that I was involved with to get drinking water to people in need of it…and to get editing help to aspiring authors in need of that, like me. The charity, Crits for Water, runs for three months per year from this site: http://critsforwater.katbrauer.com/
So now knowing that Ellen’s heart is golden –
wait until you hear about debut novel, ‘Prophecy’!
The greatest warrior in all of the Seven Kingdoms… is a girl with yellow eyes.
Kira’s the only female in the king’s army, and the prince’s bodyguard. She’s a demon slayer and an outcast, hated by nearly everyone in her home city of Hansong. And, she’s their only hope…
Murdered kings and discovered traitors point to a demon invasion, sending Kira on the run with the young prince. He may be the savior predicted in the Dragon King Prophecy, but the missing treasure of myth may be the true key. With only the guidance of the cryptic prophecy, Kira must battle demon soldiers, evil shaman, and the Demon Lord himself to find what was once lost and raise a prince into a king.
Intrigue and mystery, ancient lore and action-packed fantasy come together in this heart-stopping first book in a trilogy.
‘Prophecy’ will release in Jaunuary 2, 2013 and is book one of the Prophecy Series. Book two, entitled ‘Warrior’ is due out in 2014.
Can’t wait until January to hear her work? Lucky for you, Ellen has contributed to a compilation of short stories which released this month!
Ellen Oh’s short story, ‘The Last Day’, takes a second look at history and considers what might have happened had Nagasaki and Hiroshima not ended the Pacific Theater of World War II. In this alternative history, World War II has waged on for years and years and has evolved into a fight for dominance between the East and the West. The story follows the lives of two boys trying to survive in a world that is literally running out of everything, including soldiers.
Meet Author Ellen Oh
Ellen would probably hate that I’m writing a formal bio on her. She prefers to share information about herself in a fun and creative way rather than the standard paragraph of details. You’ll have to check out her bio page to see what I mean.
Ellen is a Korean American who grew up in Brooklyn. She went to NYU and then continued on to Georgetown University for law school. After graduation she practiced corporate law and entertainment law and now she teaches college courses on academic research and writing. In the year 2000 she was inspired to write after reading a Time magazine article on Genghis Khan, and proceeded to write ‘Prophecy’ on scraps of paper in her car while stuck in traffic, which, by the way, is the best use of time I have ever heard of!
She is married with three daughters.

Woo-hoo! Ellen is awesome, and I am DYING to read Prophecy. Have heard nothing but great talk of it.
The diversity in her background and education is amazing. I can’t wait to read her new book.
